Hi I just tried this in SSMS 18.4 and it is not working.  Same problem, button active but does nothing.  Should I upgrade SSMS to 18.5.1 again?

Does anyone having this problem also have SqlDependencyTracker installed?  I'm now running SSMS 18.5 and installing Dependency Tracker stops SqlSearch from working.  Uninstall DependencyTracker and SqlSearch is good again.

Hi, I can confirm cell001uk suggestion.  In SSMS 18.5.1 I tried a complete uninstall of all Red Gate tools, deleted all the left over program and appdata directories and fresh pull of the toolbelt installer as of 7/17/2020 and still SQL Search did not work.  Uninstalled just DependencyTracker and now SQL Search is working again.
  • Thanks all for your time and effort on this issue. We have a local reproduction now. I'll keep you informed of any further updates. Apologies for the inconvenience this is causing.
    Kind regards

Agree that: "Uninstalled just DependencyTracker and now SQL Search is working again. "  works for me.

According to your support section SQL Search starts working again if you do an uninstall of Dependency Tracker.
This worked for me with the latest versions of both SQL Search and SSMS 18.6.
    Why is that?
  • @thzman

It's great to know both work fine in SSMS 18.6 for you. It's not clear what's the underlying issue yet, and it doesn't happen for all users.

Sorry we can't give you any definite explanation at the moment, but do let us know if anything changes again for you.
    Kind regards

SQL Search 3.5.0.2590 does not work with SSMS v18.6 ver15.0.18338.0
I have uninstalled & reinstalled a few of the versions and no joy.

Doing a clean install of SSMS & Search fixed my issues.
  • Hi, I have SQL Doc, SQL Search & SQL Dependency Tracker all disabled on SSMS 18.6. Doc & DT are ok since I can launch them in their dedicated app but Search is unusable now. Any news of a fix?
  • Hi everyone,

We have fixed an issue with SQL Dependency Tracker which was causing some issues with SQL Search. This has been confirmed to work with the latest version of SQL Search and SSMS 18.6.

If you are still experiencing problems, please update to SQL Dependency tracker 3.3.4 to fix this.

    Thanks,

I cannot get SQL Search v3.5.4.2657 to come up.  I am using SSMS v18.8 (15.0.18369.0).  I have uninstalled and re-installed Dependency Tracker several times.  I have several other Red Gate SSMS add-ins working properly.  And all Red Gate software is up to date.
  • Hi @JimCCSD

Please can your try disconnecting SQL server, open SQL Search, and then reconnect SQL Server?
    Kind regards
