Did you upgrade to SSMS 18.5 and then install SQL Search 3.5.1.2598 or did you install SQL Search before the SSMS upgrade?
If it was before, you'll need to install SQL Search 3.5.1.2598 again now that you've upgraded SSMS.
If it was after upgrading SSMS, please can you attach a screenshot of what you're seeing?

I installed SQL Search 3.5.1.2598 after I installed SSMS 18.5.
I can not send you a screenshot because there is nothing to see when I click on the button.
Maybe there is al logfile but I don't know where.
I had upgraded to SSMS 18.5.1, and after upgrading clicking the SQL Search button did nothing. I then uninstalled SQL Search, downloaded the current version from the website, then installed it again. I then started SSMS and the problem remains: clicking SQL Search doesn't do anything.
If I uninstall SSMS 18.5.1 and go back to 18.4 which is what I had previously been running, SQL Search 3.5.1.2598 works again.
I have just been advised that this is a known issue and for now we have a workaround.
When you're connected to the server, and if SQL Search is disabled, choosing disconnect on Object Explorer then connecting enables SQL Search.

Your solution does not work for me.
The button in ssms is not disabled, it doesn't do anything.
Whenever a new version of SSMS is installed, the Redgate add-on tools need reinstalling after the upgrade.
Here's the latest SQL Search installer:

Other links on that page are incorrect as well with the text older than the link or vice versa.

This is a known issue the development team is aware of and they're working on a fix.
In the meantime, the workaround is to disconnect your SQL server from SSMS Object explore, then close and reopen SQL Search, finally reconnect your SQL Server.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Then to clean up the registery and all the folders from redate.
Then I installes ssms 18.4 and sql prompt 10.2.0.15168.
This worked for me.
Could you try uninstalling all Redgate tools, and then reinstall the latest version using this installer: https://download.red-gate.com/installers/SQLToolbelt/2020-06-24/SQLToolbelt.exe

It should work fine in SSMS 18.5.1. If you upgrade your SSMS now, does SQL Search stop working again? So sorry for the inconvenience this is causing!

Would you mind to try uninstall and reinstalling SQL Search one more time and let us know if the problem persists?
I couldn't reproduce the issue with SQL Dependency tracker. Apart from those, do you have any other plugins in SSMS 18.5.1?

I uninstalled everything, ran CCleaner(Custom Clean, Registry Clean), restarted, installed older version of all the redgate tools and it started working again.
If I then update to newest it stops working
.
Our development team is investigating this issue and we'll update here shortly.
