Can't Browse Backup Files With Version 5.4

Server version: 5.4

We backup to a network share on a Data Domain DD580 device. When we attempt to restore from the network and choose "Browse for backup files to restore" version 5.4 cannot browse to the file folder. Only the share name is visible. The File Browser in SQL Backup cannot see any folders under the network share on the device. This only occurs for SQL servers that have been upgraded to version 5.4. When restoring to servers that are still running 5.3, we can browse to the files.

We can browse to the share with Windows Explorer. If we type or paste the file path, SQL Backup can read and restore from the backup file even though we cannot browse to the file.

This problem does not occur on all network shares. If the share is on a Windows server, browse for file works correctly. The share that is not browsable is on the Data Domain DD580 device.

Any suggestions for fixing this problem?

    I don't know what info you need about the DD580. Here is a link to info aboutthe device on the Dat Domain web site.

    We simply access the device as we would any share on the LAN. Our data center personnel have configured the device. We can browse folders in Windows Explorer and other applications. Thus far, only SQL Backup 5.4 fails to browse the folders.

    Is the restoring server the same server that performed the backup to the network shares on the DD580 device?

    If the answer is no, does the account given to the SQL Backup Agent Service on the restoring server have permissions to the network share?

    Are you using SQL authentication for the SQL Backup Agent Service?

    When using the SQL backup GUI, to you connect to the registrated server using SQL authentication?

    When browsing for the network shares on the DD580, are you able to connect to the device using the add servers button?

    I have been on vacation for the past week and not able to reply.

    1- The problem occurs if restoring to the same server or a different server. The account has permissions to the share. We can browse to the share using Windows Explorer when logged in with the account used by the SQL Backup Agent. SQL Backup can restore from the device. It just cannot browse to the folders and files.

    2- We connect to the server using Windows Authentication. I have not tested using SQL authentication.

    3- We use Windows authentication for the SQL Backup Agent Service.

    4- We can connect to the device using the add servers button. At least, it shows in the tree but there are no shares listed.

    I need to add that this problem occurs in another set of servers in a different domain. The backup device in that domain is not a DD580. It is a Windows Server. We cannot browse shares or folders on that backup server, either.
