SQL Search crashes SSMS

When trying to load a database, SSMS freezes and has to be shut down. Tool will load with no database connections in the object viewer, but once one is added, if Search is open management studio freezes and eventually self-restarts. If there are already connections, then opening SQL Search freezes management studio and only task manager can kill SSMS. There are no other issues with other Red Gate tools or SSMS.

    Hi Bryan

Thank you for your forum post and sorry that you have encountered a problem.

What version of SQL Search are you using?

Is SQL Search to your knowledge performing any re-indexing task when the problem occurs?

Would you please increase the minimum logging level to verbose

To enable logging and obtain log files.
Help menu ->Logging ->Minimum Logging Level ->use drop menu to select logging level and set it to verbose? Are there any error entries that may indicate a cause of the error?
Help menu ->Logging ->Locate log files
Help menu ->Logging ->Open current log file

    Many thanks
    Eddie

The issue was resolved by correcting the RGTEMP variable. An incorrect file path user setting was migrated onto a laptop install.
