Cannot Activate on SQL 2005 Active/Passive Cluster

I've been following through the instructions for installing SQL Backup on a SQL Cluster. When trying to Active both nodes, I experience an error. The activation fails on both nodes.

It is possible that one of the servers in the cluster was already Activated using the SQL Backup interface instead of the special executable. However, the option to Deactive is not available.

I'm not sure what steps I should take to resolve this issue.

Thx.

The simple method is to run the activation application (ProductActivation.exe) locally on both nodes, and select the 'Local server only' option on each node, and activate them individually.

  • Peter,

I ran the program on the Active server and had to select email as the method for activation. How long does the email activation take? It has been over an hour so far.

    Thank you.
