What does "Index was outside the bounds of the array" mean?

I'm trying to compare my Prod and Test copies of an Oracle database.
this works fine for most tables.
But I've got a few tables inside the database that I should be able to compare (Schemas are identical) that when I do the compare it gives the message
" Comparing Database"
" Comparing tables......
Index was outside the bounds of the array.
The table doesn't have all that many rows. in one case only 9. in another less than 1000.
the table only has 58 columns.
What am I doing wrong?
