Object Level Recovery - Error Reading Backup Objects
XOR
Posts: 2
When trying to do a SQL Object Level Recovery, I select the destination, then the backup source file. Then, as it is parsing the backup file, I get this error:
Error reading backup objects: Cannot open backup - possible file corruption
I assume this means that the only thing I can do is take a new backup and try again. Is there any other way to use the existing file?
Thank you in advance! -B

From the error message you are experiencing it does appear that the backup file maybe corrupted. I have known copies of a backup file to corrupt when copied using the Windows Explorer.
Are you able to restore the backup file in question to a test database? I ask this question, as the Backup file reader used in the Object Level Recovery utility is having problems parsing the file and an actual restore of the backup file is the ultimate check that a backup file is not corrupt.
Many Thanks
