It looks like your remote share (\\sys1\p$\backups\) was unreachable from your SQL Server box during that time.

Could you please check if the SQL Backup Agent service startup account has rights to that remote share?

    Thanks.

Could you please run the following using SQL Server Management Studio:
EXEC master..sqbackup '-sql "BACKUP DATABASE model TO DISK = [\\sys1\p$\backups\model.sqb]"'

    and post the output here?

    Thanks.

Sorry, that should have been sqlbackup instead of sqbackup i.e.
EXEC master..sqlbackup '-sql "BACKUP DATABASE model TO DISK = [\\sys1\p$\backups\model.sqb]"'

Is your system currently near its limit i.e. is physical memory running low, and page file usage extremely high?

If not, try restarting the SQL Backup Agent service and back up the model database again.

    Thanks.

  • how can we know weather my system is running near its limit i.e; physical memory running low, and page file usage extremely high?

The Windows Task Manager ought to show you the numbers.
