Hello,

I tried evaluating your product as a possible tool our company could use to compare TSQL databases. Unfortunately, every time I try to run the installer I receive the following error:

GmkAFokoturDQc1pK8rHkLjLVtDRZPmlJH-3ITBWLWw
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/ygeaa35pm5dc9nx/AABXurNxqZO5IEFSbbQNCd7xa

I also get the following three event logs every time it runs:

Thank you for your post and sorry for the delay in replying back to you.

There is not a lot of information regarding error 0xe0434352

I found articles where the Windows Fonts were reloaded and re-installation of the .NET Framework. Others were how to capture and handle the exception which I do not think is the problem here.

The SQL Toolbelt installer, simply extracts the msi file for each Red Gate application and places the msi file into the temp directory. Could be a permissions problems to the temp directory, can you please trying the installer from the command line using the temp C: emp parameter:

    SQLToolbelt.exe temp c: emp

If the above suggestion does not work out for you, can you please rerun the installer and then when it errors out right click at the top left corner and it will give you option to view 'Install Log' just copy it and send it over to us? A support call has been created for you HERE. You will need to create a Redgate ID if you do not already have one. Otherwise please email support@red-gate.com and place call reference #30615 in the subject field of the email.

    Many Thanks

  • I have exactly the same problem.
•Yes I am running it as administrator
•Yes I have full Access to the Machine

“Others were how to capture and handle the exception which I do not think is the problem here.”
From everything I read in the last hour, I do not agree. It is probably due to the wrong handling of an exception in the installer.
It is written in the report of Wehanney
    Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
    Exception Info: System.IO.FileLoadException

Now why is there System.IO.FileLoadException? It is another question.

And I am 100% sure that it has nothing to do with extracting files!

An idea : could it be due to the fact that I have installed on my machine Visual Studio 2013 and that for database I am using the old SQL Server Management Studio 2005 ?

    Thanks

    Hello Eddie,

Unfortunately even specifying the temp directory does not produce a different error. I should mention that when I run the installer I get this before I get the other error screen:

    ByeMHWqpjWi854l0jQOZLyJnvCR68ny85OU0-WR3ksE
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2owechuao4eqlrj/Red%20Gate%20-%20SQL%20Developer%20Bundle%20-%20Installer%20Crash.jpg?dl=0

When I click "Close the Program" I get the window mentioned above with no option for a log. I should also mention that this problem seems to be happening with your SQLDeveloperBundle.exe download.

    Thanks

There is something strange occurring within the .NET Framework when the SQL Toolbelt installer runs that is preventing the install process creating the temp files in the Windows Temp folder or any other folder on the system disk.

As per an earlier email or forum post, the SQL Toolbelt installer, simply extracts the msi file for each Red Gate application and places the msi file into the Windows temp directory.

Using this command line syntax, specify a different folder on another disk drive for the temp directory where the msi files will be created.

CD to the path to where SQL Toolbelt.exe is located.

    SQLToolbelt.exe temp E:
    ew_temp_path --where 'C:
ew_temp_path is the path to a different location

For other users, if the above solution does not help. Please contact the Redgate Support Team [support@red-gate.com] so we can raise a Support Ticket for you.

    Hello Eddie,

I tried what you suggested (specifying a temp directory) and it still errored out when I manually tried to run the installer in the temp directory. While I can understand an installer having issues access files, it should not be crashing like it is at the very least.

I created an account under your support desk to continue with finding a solution, but I apparently do not have access to the support ticket you provided above. Please correct either the installer or the support ticket so that we can continue.

    Thank you,

    Wes Hanney
