I am having a system error running the sql compare 8 command line.
We bought licenses for the SQLToolbelt and this is a activated install.
The operational system is a Windows Server 2008.

The command works after the dialog box is clicked.
But it defeats the command line purpuse.

Application popup: 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem : C:\Program Files\Red Gate\SQL Compare 8\SQLCompare.exe
NTVDM has encountered a System Error
The specified service does not exist.
Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

  • Hi,

NTVDM is a service which is used to run 16bit programs which to my knowledge we don't touch/use. I am guessing this is a 32 bit Windows 2008 server? Does the SQL Compare 8 GUI work ok?

If you run just SQLCompare /? does the message come up?

Have you tried a reinstall of SQL Compare?

    Thanks,
