No Intellisense when connecting to Azure Database in SSMS 19 or SSMS 20

I have a clean install of SSMS 19 and 20. I downloaded and installed the most recent Tool Belt essentials. I am not able to get intellisense (Table Names etc) when connecting to Azure DB. When I refresh, Cntrl+D, the pop up tries to connect but says it failed. I do not have this issue on SSMS 18 at all.  I am running SQL Prompt 10.14.21.9884 with the most recent version of Source Control. I have also followed other posts and Uninstalled Source Control and re installed the latest version of SQL Prompt. Prompt connection to the Azure DB still failed.
If Intellisense isn't going to work for Azure DB, then what is the point of of SQL Prompt? Now I have to type the full Table name out or Drag and drop.

Hello thank  you for the reply Ben, we are using Microsoft Entra MFA which Intellisense does not work. it does work on SQL servers where authentication is 'Windows Authentication' My local laptop has all application of the most current Tool belt essentials. (SQL History, SQL Search, SQL Test and SQL Source Control) Source control is version 7.7.10.18663 for my local

On my virtual machine I did not install Source Control and installed the latest Toolbelt Essentials package on the website, so this is happening on two different machines.
My team is also experiencing the same issues.

My current work around is to re-install SSMS 18 as I can connect to Azure Databases and have Intellisense as that connection is Azure Active Directory - Universal with MFA

    Thank you,

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Are you able to try updating SQL Source Control to the latest version below:
    https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLSourceControl/SQLSourceControl_7.7.18.19115.exe

Then try SQL Prompt in SSMS 19.3 or SSMS 20.2 and let me know if the same issue occurs.

  • Hi @dmckee0341

    Thank you for your post.

Which Authentication method are you using to connect to your Azure DB?

Also, can you please confirm the full version of SQL Source Control that you have installed? Do you have any other tools installed into SSMS other than the 2 mentioned?

Thank you that worked. I will try this on my virtual machine that currently does not have Source Control installed. I appreciate the quick fix.

I have connected with Microsoft Entra MFA and I tried Entra Password. Right now Entra Password worked.
I have all the tools for Essential. History, Search, Test and SourceControl
