"Specified network name is no longer available"...

Hi.
Each time I click "Compare Now" or on the "Mapping" tab, it starts to read the objects ("Registing databases" or "Preparing Mappings") and after a short time (less than a minute), it aborts saying:
A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.)
I think it always goes thro' the first database successfully but fails on the second - I tried switching databases but that didn't help. I thought it might have something to do with the connection timing-out. Couldn't find a way to tell SC not to timeout...
Can anyone help?
The databases I'm trying to compare are on the same SQL Server 2005 server.
Thanks.
