Can a combined web and base monitor installation be separated and relinked later post installation?

To whom it may concern,
Is it possible to separate a combined web and base monitor post installation?
I'm thinking the method is to uninstall the web monitor component only and then install that part on another server and reconnect it to its primary base monitor.
Please can you confirm if this method works.
Redgate system requirements documentation recommends once the number of monitored sql servers goes over 20 it is best to separate the web and base monitor installs.

The only thing you need to be aware is that when you've installed the first Web Server, SQL Monitor recorded the thumprint of that original Web Server on a file and it will only accept connections from that Web Server from then on.
As a result of that if you just follow your steps you will run into an error when you first attempt to connect the new Web Server to the Base Monitor: The Web Server isn't authorized to access this Base Monitor
To avoid this error before adding the new Web Server you should delete the RedGate.SqlMonitor.AuthorizedClients.config file from the SQL Base Monitor (detailed instructions here:

Will this method also work if I want to remove the web server from another combined installation and re-add the base monitor this time as a secondary base monitor?
Here are more detailed instructions on how to add a second base monitor:
