SQL native backups on a NAS device

Good afternoon,

we save our SQL native backups on a NAS device (not Windows), so we can’t install the SQL Clone agent on it.

Would it be possible to use a “proxy” machine (a windows server on which to install the SQL Clone agent) and access the SMB shares on the NAS? The “proxy” machine would operate by accessing the SQL DB backups from the shared filesystem.

Is there any specific documentation on the subject (eg. a tutorial to follow)?

 Thanks a lot

Hi and thanks for your post!

I believe we have a ticket open with you, so I'm just copying my reply here:

Regarding your query, we don't have any specific documentation on using SQL Clone with NAS. However, but this should work as long as the backups can be accessed on the network share from your "proxy" server (and the user running the SQL Clone agent on that server).

Hope that info helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
