Hi I have recently installed SSMS 18.8 along with the latest Redgate toolbelt . These are the version numbers:
Also the SQL Search utility is not available on the toolbar even though it is installed on my machine (SQL Search 3)
Sql server management studio version 18.8 [15.0.18369.0]
Sql source control 7.2.16.11935
However , as soon as try to open SQL Source Control, and try to Get Latest , I get the error - 'Could not load file or assembly SmartAssembly.ReportException...' (below)Sql source control 7.2.16.11935
Also the SQL Search utility is not available on the toolbar even though it is installed on my machine (SQL Search 3)

In my case I am getting this when attempting to run a commit - after running through the compare process and is about to display changes I get the above exception.
This is only happening on one database, other databases are still working fine. It also has been working fine against this database recently - last commit was a bunch of stored procs, views, synonyms and some data (it also looks like it amended the RedGateDatabaseInfo.xml file - added lines for ExternalFileFormat, ExternalDataSource and ExternalTable).
The error you're getting indicates that our error reporting feature is failing, but there is likely an underlying error from the Get Latest tab that is the real problem.
The issue with reporting feature has been fixed in the SQL Source Control version 7.2.18. This is available at https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLSourceControl/SQLSourceControl_7.2.18.12103.exe
