Indexing Issue?

I constantly have to re-index when I change the search string.

I didn't have to re-index so much before a few months ago.

Is this a known problem and is there a solution?

    Hello,

    Thanks for your post!

I know there have been changes in the past to reduce automatic reindexing in order to avoid SSMS exhausting resources, but there haven't been any recent changes to this that I'm aware of.  (In 2018, SQL Search stopped reindexing at startup, for example.)

Can I just confirm if you are changing the search string while SQL Search is in the process of reindexing? Or does it occur even when it's not?

No, I am not changing the string while indexing.  I will have used SQL Search to find something, usually having to re-index first.  Later on, I will go to SQL Search to find something else in the same database, but I have to re-index or it returns unrelated objects, thousands of them, or it returns the objects from the previous search.

That's indeed very odd. Could you check which version of SQL Search you are on?

The log might reveal something useful. I'll reach out to you by email shortly.
    Kind regards
