Error when starting SQL Compare in SQL Management Studio

LyterRLyterR Posts: 1 Bronze 1
I am getting the following error when trying to start a compare within SQL Management Studio (right clicking a database and selecting source or target) on any database or server

Error activating ILinkedDatabaseDetailsGetter
No matching bindings are available, and the type is not self-bindable.

I am running SQL Management Server 18.5.1. Other people here have 17.9.1 and are not having issues running it.
It works fine if I start SQL Compare outside of Management Studio, so this isn't a major problem just an inconvenience.

SQL Compare version 14.2.16.16006

Sorry to hear you're getting this issue!

Can I ask, do you have SQL Source Control? LinkedDatabase is a file used by SQL Source Control to record the connections of your databases to source control systems. If possible, could you uninstall and reinstall SQL Source Control and see if the error persists?

    Kind regards

Has anyone figured out what is causing this issue and how to fix it? Where is the LinkedDatabase file?

I have installed the SQL Compare product.
