Estate -> Internal job that downloads SqlServerVersions.json file

Hi. Can you tell me what process SQL Monitor uses to download the SQL versions json file. The download is currently blocked on our server, - we have an error in the GUI "The latest version data for this page could not be updated. This usually happens if your web server is not able to access the internet." and it's also blocked in ie11 on the server when trying to download manually, "This page can’t be displayed", in fact, https:\\www.web-gate.com is blocked in ie... I'm not sure fixing ie will help with the internal job though.

As far as I understand it, it just downloads the file from the website just as if you clicked on the link (https://www.red-gate.com/products/dba/sql-monitor/assets/sql-server-versions.json) except it saves it to the %programdata% location mentioned in https://documentation.red-gate.com/sm8/versioning-and-patching.
I've just checked in Chrome, IE and Edge and it downloads it in all cases for me (that may or may not be a representative test). If you try downloading it from a different machine (i.e. your local machine) rather than the server does it succeed? Do you have any other browsers to try this with (on the server or other machine)?

So does the process somehow use ie?
Maybe ie and dot net (presuming that's what sql monitor is written in), are linked, and if I can fix whatever is blocking ie, then dot net will start working. I've just installed Chrome on the server and this allows me to download the file, but https://www.red-gate.com/ get's blocked in ie
It'd be great if this process was automated, don't really want to add a manual process to update the list.

I'm honestly not sure, I'll see if I can find out. I imagine it would use the default browser to accomplish the task if it was needing to use a browser, but I'm not sure if that's the case - it couldn't hurt to make Chrome the default browser and see if it works, and if that is the case you can fix IE and set it back to the default if needed.
