Cannot log into MySQL database from Data Compare

in MySQL Compare
Using TCP/IP on localhost and get 
Error Connecting to Database
Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061): Authentication failed.

I can connect using MySQL Workbench. 
How do I trouble shoot this?
