How change I acknowledge a very large change?

The system keeps refreshing before it accepts the acknowledgement.
How can I change the refresh time or acknowledge the change?
Is there a backdoor into the database to acknowledge the change?
This will cuase more problems until it blows up unless fixed - what is the fix
