Data compare - no objects selected dialog is displayed even though objects were selected

I am using Sql Data Compare (version 11.1.3.23), and sometimes I get the "No objects selected" dialog popup when I attempt to do a deployment even though multiple objects are selected. This is a serious problem because at times there is no way to perform the deployment.
Why is this happening and how can this be fixed?
