Upgrading to SQL Monitor 8.0

SQL Monitor 8.0 is a major upgrade from SQL Monitor 7. If your current license includes a valid support and upgrades package for SQL Monitor 7.x, the same license serial number will automatically activate SQL Monitor 8.0.
If your v7.x license does not include support and upgrades, SQL Monitor will upgrade to a 14-day trial of v8.0. You cannot roll back to the previous 7.x version, so we recommend that you install a trial version of v8.0 on a separate machine. For more information, see Upgrading to a later version of SQL Monitor

    While installing SQL Monitor 8 The create database step hangs.  It appears to create the database but gets stuck while running this step.  "DECLARE @command NVARCHAR(MAX)
    SET @command = 'ALTER DATABASE ' + QUOTENAME(DB_NAME()) + ' SET ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION ON'
    EXEC (@command)"   This is not actually doing anything.  This same statement comes up when trying to use that created db after closing the window and finishing the instal using the created database, when first launching the web site.  I am using a windows server 2016 standard server and using a separate existing SQL Server 2016 FCI.  The trace on this process just shows it connected with no activity and the activity monitor shows it as suspended with repeated ~1000ms ENABLE_VERSIONING Waits.  I would appreciate a solution as I finally have licenses to install this and would like to get using it.

    I've just upgraded from version 7 and I believe the folder used in IIS might have changed as I got an 500.19 "cannot read configuration file".  Checked and my Physical Path in IIS was pointing to C:\Program Files\Red Gate\SQL Monitor\Web but looks like it is now C:\Program Files\Red Gate\SQL Monitor\WebSite
  • Did you ever have this configured differently (eg from version 5, 6)? I've checked back to the 7.0.0 installer and the path is C:\Program Files\Red Gate\SQL Monitor\WebSite.

    Is the forecasting for data file usage only visible from the alert when it triggers?  Is it possible to view the forecast without having to trigger an alert first?

    Nope, not changed the Directory Path, but we have been using the software for a couple of years, started on Version 5.

    That could be the culprit then, v5 and 6 installed to C:\Program Files\Red Gate\SQL Monitor\Web. Quite why you didn't see this error when upgrading to v7 I don't know however.

    Interesting.  I don't see the Website folder in that path either, I only see a Web folder.   To make the upgrade be successful do I just create a Website folder in that path then?

    It depends really - if you want to keep \Web\ just change the installation path to point to that directory. Or install as per defaults and copy your files across to the (new) \Website\ folder.

    Morning guys,

    I have installed version 8.0.19 this morning but I cannot see where:

    • Added the ability to view estate-wide backup information.
    • Added the ability to view estate-wide SQL Agent job statuses.
    Is it possible for some one to point me in the right direction?
