SQL Monitor alerting for Missing Disks

Today we removed a disk from one of our FCI's. I expected Sqlmonitor to alert that the disk went missing. Is this something that we need to configure differently, or is that functionality not part of SQL monitor. FWIW, our Network group's monitoring software caught it and alerted.

SQL Monitor will only alert on disk space and not on availability as highlighted in the link below.

It seemed like SQL monitor should be able to perform this check since it was already interrogating the servers and storing the disk information. A check against what disks it saw in the last check seems like it would be fairly quick/easy to implement.
BTW, your competitors already have this alert.
