SQL Prompt Not Integrated With SSMS After Update

I'm running SSMS 10.5538.0 (2008 R2) and was running SQL Prompt 5 just fine. Today I updated to SQL Prompt 9 and it integrated just fine into Visual Studio but there's no trace of it in SSMS.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled both SQL prompt and the SQL integration package, but still no joy. I tried stopping and starting the Red Gate Client service, and still nothing. SQL Search, Compare, Data Compare, Data Generator, etc. all are showing up, just not SQL Prompt.

Without SQL Prompt I'm pretty much dead in the water, so can anybody help me figure out how to get it back?

I'm have the same situation running the same version of SSMS. Tried SQL Prompt version 9, then 8.2 and it does not appear in SSMS only in Visual Studio. I didn't install all the other components as I only need SQL Prompt.

I had to upgrade to SSMS 17.4 to get SQL Prompt 9 to appear. Even though I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 SSMS 17.4 seems to work just fine, so my problem went away. :)

So the answer is updating SSMS. Apparently SQL Prompt 9 doesn't work with SSMS 10.

  • Unfortunately since version 8, SQL Prompt doesn't support SSMS 2008 and SSMS 2008 R2 or earlier versions. Here is the release note. Please upgrade SSMS.

    Kind regards
