Hello Timothy,
Extended Properties were introduced in SQL Server 2000, and they essentially let you store some metadata (data about the data) into a SQL object. One form of Extended Property you can see in Enterprise Manager is a comment about a column in a table. If you open a table in Enterprise Manager by right-clicking on it and choosing 'Design Table', then click on one of the columns and type something in the Comment field there and save the table, you will see that appear as an Extended Property in SQL Compare the next time you run a database comparison.
