Is it possible to use Firefox instead of IE when profiling an ASP.NET application ? I have Firefox set as the default browser, but ANTS still launches IE...
Thanks for your post. When ANTS Profiler starts its' profiling of a web site or web application, it uses shdocvw.dll to create a new instance of Internet Explorer for you to run your web application. That's why changing the default web browser setting on your Windows OS will not make a difference.
Since all that ANTS Profiler cares about is the code that's running in the .NET Common Language Runtime, however, it really shouldn't matter what web browser you use. Maybe you could try giving ANTS Profiler a 'bogus' URL to profile by entering the correct URL up to the last part (the .aspx file, for instance) and entering in something that doesn't exist as the file part of the URL. Then when IE displays a 404 page, start up FireFox and use that as a test harness.
Please let me know if you have any success with this!
