Can't use SQLPrompt on Parallels-based machine

Synopsis: SQLPrompt is not available/functional on Parallels-based SSMS
Background:
  • I have two machines - one running Windows under Parallels Desktop; the other running native Windows. I went through the SQLPrompt install on both machines
  • Both machines have SQLSearch available through SSMS; but only the native Windows machine has SQLPrompt available.

Machine Configuration
  1. The Parallels machine is running SSMS 2012; the native Windows machine is running SSMS 2016
  2. Both machines are running Windows 10 Pro
  3. I chose the same options for the Redgate install on each machine

    Hi @dhk!

SQL Prompt should work on a Parallels desktop.

If you haven't already, can you please first open Programs and Features and try repairing SQL Prompt as well as the "SSMS Integration Pack Framework 1" to see if that resolves this?

If not, can you please confirm if the SQL Prompt menu is present in SSMS in the parallels desktop despite the tool not working? Or is the menu missing completely?

Can you please share your log files in %localappdata%\Red Gate\logs\SQL Prompt 8 (and if any SQL Prompt load errors occur on startup, please send these over as well!) by sending to support@red-gate.com with the subject "Files for #95861"?

    Thanks!

Hey @Jessica R -- thanks for the suggestions.

When I was looking @ my two machines, I realized one (the Parallels one) was running SSM 2012 -- so I
    • uninstalled Redgate
    • uninstalled SSMS 2012
    • Installed SSMS 2016
    • Installed Redgate
and I'm a happy, productive SQLPrompter.

    Thanks for suggestions.
