Ignore occurrencies in comments

Hi,

SQL Search up to 2.4 finds all occurrencies of a provied string (of course it does and it's great in doing this). However, sometimes it would be useful to ignore occurrencies in comments.
What about this as a new feature via a checkbox in SQL Search? Generally, it should search everything that will be faster. After checking this option it would parse T-SQL code of views, procedures functions etc. and would skip occurrencies in comments.

    Hi Klaus,

Thanks so much for your post and suggestion!

We actually have a request for the option to exclude comments from the search on our UserVoice forum here: https://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/10 ... -in-search

Would you mind voting on the request?

  • It's the top item in voting as it was about 6 months ago when I voted it up too. Don't get your hopes up this is coming anytime soon. :?

Yeah, it looks like it's not as easy to add the feature as it may seem, unfortunately. :/ We'd have to completely change the way we search in order to implement it, so it's not on the timeline as of yet but we'll post here as well as on the uservoice request whenever there's a change to this.
