Replication issues during deployment

Has anyone come up with a slick/automated way to handle replication errors? For example, if we make certain types of changes to replicated tables in SQL2008, our automated deployment fails unless we disable replication manually.

Ideally, we want an automated way to only drop/recreate replication when needed.
