SQL Backup 8.0 has been released

We're pleased to announce that SQL Backup 8 has been released. This is a major release and includes new features to make it easy to verify your backups.


  • Support for SQL Server 2016
  • Improved support for AlwaysOn Availability Groups
    • Added file location tags<CLUSTER>,<AVAILABILITYGROUP>
    • Added support for Availability Group backup preference
    • Added support to apply COPY_ONLY when doing FULL backup on secondary replica
    • Added awareness of limitations of backup capabilities on secondary replicas
    • no longer require registry configuration to SkipChecks
  • Support for Email Encryption in server options
  • Improved support for removable storage media
  • Support for multiple DATETIME tags
