We have made no changes to our SQL server and have been using 11.2 for a while with no issues. Now I am getting permissions error when the program tries to read extended properties with SQL Data Compare and I am an owner of the database...any help is much appreciated.

  • Hi,

We believe we have introduced a regression in 11.3 that means that for some versions of SQL Server you may now require an additional permission, VIEW SERVER STATE. We're going to release a fix for this to frequent updates as soon as we can.

Can you confirm which version of SQL Server you're using, and what you have the compatibility level set to?

  • We are using server 2008 and 2012. That was not set in permissions. Let me know when there is a fix. For now I have rolled back to 11.2
  • I'm pleased to tell you that this is fixed in the latest frequent updates version, 11.3.1.56. You should no longer need VIEW SERVER STATE permissions. To get this update, you'll need to turn on frequent updates.
