error: ActiveX Component can't create object

I've just installed SQL Bundle on a Win2K SP4 server. Data Compare and DTS Compare started and activated without a problem.

When I try to bring up SQL Compare the first time, however, it immediately throws this error:

There was an error:
ActiveX Component can't create object

Tried reinstalling with no luck.

Any help appreciated,

Torrey Hyatt

Not sure what is going on here. The current version of SQL Compare doesn't use any activex controls.
Could you let me know the version of the bundle, and the .net framework, you have installed.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The version of the bundle.exe is 8.2.160.0

From Add/Remove Programs, it looks like we've installed

    .NET Framework v1.0.3705
    .NET Framework 1.0 Hotfix (KB886906)

    .NET Framework 1.1
    .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903)

Sorry the bundle version you have given me isn't the one i'm looking for.
I need the SQL Bundle software version rather than the install application.
Can you go to add/remove programs and view the support information for "Red Gate SQL Bundle". The software version can be found there.
    Thanks

I have looked for a resolution for this problem.
One of the options is that a common windows object has not been registered correctly.
    Firstly try reregistering this component.
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\DAO350.DLL"
If this still doesn't work try reinstalling SQL Client tools and MDAC.

Let me know how you get on.
There is some further investigation we can do if these setps fail.
