Hi,

We are using SQL Backup Pro 7 inside AWS environment.

Have anybody experience with backing up Large databases over 1 TB in size?

What medium are you using?

We are currently backing up to S3 but we have a lot of issues with performance, also we try to avoid backup to EBS as EBS can be pricey when backing up large DBs

Many thanks

Robert

    Hi

Thank you for your forum post.

I assume you have permissions to install the SQL Backup Pro Server components on the AWS server, as some hosted SQL Server solutions do not allow access to the master database or allow the creation of Windows services?

For any environment there are many reasons why a backup may fail or encounter poor performance. Are you able to provide further details?

Not sure what you mean by your question "What medium are you using?". In all types of backup, SQL Server collects the backup data and passes it to the Virtual Device Interface (VDI) which for SQL Server acts as the backup device. SQL Backup pro collects the backup data from VDI, compresses it and optionally encrypts the data, then writes the compressed data to disk.

    Many Thanks

  • Hi Eddie

To question : What medium are you using? I was asking what medium are you using in AWS environment to backup to (e.g. Local EBS Volume or S3 Bucket which we want to use or in best solution Glacier)

So what Im looking for is:

Have somebody experience to back up large databases over 1TB to S3 Bucket or Glacier inside AWS?

    Many Thanks
