How to register a server?

When I run DTS Compare, one of my servers does not appear in the server dropdown list - four of the five do.

In SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare, all of the servers appear.

I am using integrated authentication and know that my user account has system admin rights on the missing server.

Any ideas?

    Hello,

This sounds more like a SQL Server discovery issue -- there are similar threads in the SQL Compare and Data Compare forums. Server discovery can fail for a variety of reasons, such as firewalls blocking ports. Sometimes it helps to quit the software and re-start it as well. If all else fails, you can simply type the name of the server into the server box.
  • I have tried quiting DTS Compare, but the one server nevers appears. However, I tried typing in the server name and the compare worked just fine.

Interestingly, the next time I started DTS Compare, the server still did not appear (get discovered).

    Thanks for the help.
