Hi, i'm using 14-days trial Ants Profiler. I can work with .NET Windows app but unfortunately can't with Web App.

When I tried to UNINSTALL Native Image of Profile.UI, it shows none of such assembly installed. So i tried out with install using NGEN. Here is the result :

Thanks for all of the logs.

We think that there may be an assembly redirection in your machine.config file. ANTS Profiler is hard-coded to load
SHDocVw, Version=1.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7f465a1c156d4d57 -- note that the public key is different than the one in your binding log file. The ShDocVw.dll file included with ANTS Profiler has the public key token above.

Microsoft .NET allows you to redirect bindings to a different file by using either an entry in your machine.config (%systemroot%\Microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\config\machine.config) file or in a local app.config file, so another application may have modified your machine.config to redirect bindings to shdocvw.dll to a file with a different public key token.

You may want to try adding assembly redirection to RedGate.Profiler.UI.exe.config according to the instructions on MSDN, but it's unclear to me whether the machine.config overrides the local app.config. I suppose you could give it a try.

If that doesn't work, you could email your machine.config file to support at red-gate dot com, then we can have a look for you if you want.

Please show me some samples on BindingRedirect seems i can't catch up with MSDN articles. I check my SHDocVW.dll assembly publickeytoken which shows "7f465a1c156d4d57". But the Profiler.UI.Exe finding for "c465093b56a7cabb".

One more request for last resort, can you provide me SHDocVw.dll which compile with c465093b56a7cabb publicKeyToken?

Hi Mac,

The confusing thing about this is, ANTS Profiler is hard-coded to bind to the assembly with the public key token of 7f465a1c156d4d57. If it's looking for a different one, then either ANTS Profiler's .exe has been modified (unlikely) or there is a security policy or configuration change somewhere. This would either exist in the ANTS Profiler .ui.exe.config or in the machine.config.

If you could send us the machine.config to our support address in my previous post, I can see if I can find anything that would be redirecting the assembly binding.

Sorry I do not know a way of creating an assembly with a specified public key token without having a copy of the signer's key. It would be a huge security problem if you could do something like this, so presumably it would be prohibitively difficult to do.

Hi Brian, sorry for late reply. I have discuss with my collegues as well, and just remembered that, i have installed ANTS Profilers few months ago along with p-Invoke program. I got the whole installation bundle when i was trying to download p-Invoke. So i have been try it out few months ago and uninstall it after few days and currently when I trying with new version, I got trouble with it. :roll:

I try out so many techniques to clean the trial evidence but can't.

I have check the machine.config, and wonder no problem with it. Thanks again

Do you want to renew the trial, or just completely uninstall Profiler? In my opinion, uninstalling and reinstalling it wouldn't do much to get it working in this case. If there is corruption in the RedGate.Profiler.UI.exe assembly, maybe, but it would be a bit of a lightning-strike that could make it hold an incorrect assembly reference and not affect the rest of the assembly's code.

Also, are you positive that you downloaded this from us? If the public key is different, it may have been disassembled and compiled by someone else using a different key. If you didn't download ANTS Profiler from www.red-gate.com, I'm afraid we can't help.

"Also, are you positive that you downloaded this from us?" Ofcourse, the ANTS profiler only able downloaded from red-gate website. So no doubt that i have downloaded from here. Anyway, i try to remove completely from my machine and download new copy. Now the ANTS profiler showing trial expired.
