Duration Time Display

Looking at Activity History display at the Duration column I have lots of log backups showing 00:00:00 for Red Gate Backups run using the SQL Agent. If I look at the corresponding SQL Agent Job History these jobs will show 00:00:01. It looks like MS defaults to the 1 second so it shows it actually did something. Is SQLBackup rounding the display?

Using 5.2.0.2825

Thanks

    Hi Chris,

I can't vouch for what the SQL Server engine is doing, but I think that the time reported by SQL Backup includes only the actual time it took to back up the transactions (<1s) and doesn't include the time necessary to instantiate an instance of a VDI virtual device and connect it to the SQL Server. That's just a guess, though.

Sounds like SQLBackup rounds down so 00:00:00 means less than 1 second.
