Tables\views for schemas other than .dbo not appearing

Hello,

We are experiencing a problem using SQL Data Compare 5. We have a number of tables that belong to a Schema that we have created, lets call it 'AOC'. We cannot get data compare to include these tables in the comparison. All the others work fine, and if we log in as the same users through management studiom, we are able to edit and update the objects with no problem. They are just not appearing in the tables\views section of 'Edit project'.

Any ideas? Is there something we are missing?

P.S. Only the dbo schema appears in the 'Map owners' screen.

  • Can you quickly try SQL Data Compare 6.0 to see if it works in that version. I believe we've seen this error in the past but been unable to reproduce it. You can use a trial license for SQL Data Compare 6.0 without affecting your version 5 installation.

Otherwise would there be any way to send us a snapshot of the schema for your database using SQL Compare?

  • Have tried what you suggested regarding version 6 of the software, and it certainly now picks the objects up, so I think we should be fine now. Will try it out more extensively in the next few days to make sure.

Thanks a lot for the help. :)
  • Glad it worked - must have fixed it after all :).

Bear in mind 6.1 will be out in a few weeks - just to let you know.

  • Hi

We are experiencing what appears to be the same problem in SQL Data Compare 5. When a table in SQL 2005 belongs to a schema which is not dbo. , it does not appear in the list of tables to compare. Is this a limitation of version 5 , meaning that we have to upgrade to 6?

    Thanks

You can find out for yourself by getting a free trial version of 6 off the website and checking whether it works or not. The problem you are experiencing may have been fixed in v6, but it may also be that your problem has a different cause to the one that was fixed in v6. If it is fixed in v6, then you'll have to upgrade to take advantage of the fix - we don't generally patch lower versions.
