After uninstalling ANTS, the menu item was/is still present in VS2005. Clicking on any sub-item complained that the add-in wasn't available, and allowed me to remove the command.

However, the main menu item is now grayed, and I can't find anything that allows me to remove it.

I'm sorry you have hit this issue. An easy workaround is to right click to the right of the help menu and choose customise you can then drag the ANTS menu off the menu bar and drop it, it will then go away.
