Most Red Gate software products require activation in order to be successfully registered and used. The activation works over the Internet by contacting our activation server, which will return an activation response and an encrypted key to unlock the software.

If you cannot successfully activate over the Internet, say, if you are confronted by an aggressive firewall that blocks XML data over HTTP, you can choose to activate over email by pasting the activation request into a new email and sending it to activation@red-gate.com.

If the email activation fails, you should recieve an answer within minutes from the activation server, but in some circumstances, this does not happen.

For instance, if the activation server could not read the email, it is disregarded. The activation server may be unable to process the email if it is in HTML format. In that case, ensure that you send your emails to the activation server in plain text format.

Also, please keep in mind that the activation server can only process one request at a time. If you put multiple activation requests into one email, the activation may fail or you may only get one activation response.
