When I attempt to run a batch job to execute SQL Data Compare 5 Pro, I receive the following error: Unexpected error: Showing a modal dialog box or form when the application is not running in userintereactive mode is not a valid operation.

    Hi Jack,

The 'modal dialog' that the message is referring to is the nag requester that comes up when you are using an unlicenced version of the command-line data compare program. This should pop up properly when running sqldatacompare.exe from the command line, but if you are trying to use the evaluation or unlicensed version from Windows Scheduled Tasks, this makes it impossible, because a service can't interact with the desktop. And even if you allowed this, you would need to be logged into the machine so you could click 'continue', which sort-of defeats the purpose of automating the process!

If you already have a valid licence, you can run the command-line version once interactively in order to enter your serial number and activate the program permanently so you can use it in a schedule.
