Standard User Mode

Is it possible to have the profiler run in standard user mode? It appears that the profiler by default in Vista ANTS runs in elevated mode. This is a issue when trying to profile programs that require reduced priviliages. In our case QB 2007 has to have all applications that connect to a QB file via the API run in standard user mode. If they are not the connection will fail as it does using ANTS.

  • Hi,

I believe the profiler should not require elevation when profiling standard desktop applications in Vista. We do require elevation in order to profile web applications under IIS, but this should take place only when you actually start profiling a web application.

Assuming you're referring to V3 here, it shouldn't run the main profiler application with elevation by default.

Hmm I'll have to attempt the process on an xp machine then. Generally the error I see coming back from QB 2007 while trying to profile is attributed to UAC and user level issues.
