How about a NO_OUTPUT or NO_INFOMSGS option?

I am planning to use the xp sqlbackup in a scheduled job to back up about 400 databases nightly.

The only output I want in that case is for problems, not all of the informational stuff.

The reason is, if the job fails on any database other than the 1st, all of the informational stuff makes the actual error message disappear from the sysjobhistory logs.

It would be great if we could have an option to suppress output.

Other than that, kudos for a fantastic product!

  • Hello Aaron,

I think you want to use the MAILTO_ONERROR option, which, unlike the MAILTO option, only sends an email if there was an error. In the wizard, there is an extra tick-box that specifies only emailing a log when errors occur.
