RedGate.Profiler.Instrumentation Exception

Found this article, which has a solution, but I thought I'd post anyway so you'd know it still happens:

https://redgate.com/messageboard/viewto ... ee54cfdf67

I get this exception when trying to profile ASP.Net app:
File or assembly name RedGate.Profiler.Instrumentation, or one of its dependencies, was not found.

Upgraded in place from 2.6 to 2.7.
OS: Windows XP Professional SP2
.Net Installed: v1.0.3705, v1.1.4322, v2.0.50727

IIS is set to use the .Net 1.1 version.

  • Hi there,

i think that you're problem is being caused by a glitch in the update process. Could you stop ANTS Profiler running and uninstall AP 2.7. Then delete all the files from C:\Program Files\Red Gate\ANTS Profiler. Also check in the GAC for RedGate.Profiler.Instrumentation, if it is there delete it too.

Now reinstall ANTS Profiler 2.7 and check in the GAC that RedGate.Profiler.Instrumentation is present and that the version is 2.5.0.0 with public key token dfe6a4d9ee4c82c0

    Everything should work fine then!

  • Actually, right before I got your note, I just did a simple uninstall/reinstall (no deleting etc). And it works fine now.

Just wanted to post a note to let you guys know in place upgrades can still cause problems. Great product, hate to have someone detract from it for something so simple.
