In order for SSC to work with Perforce, you must add in the Perforce environmental variable $P4Port.
THis can be added in under windows start/Computer/(right-click)/Properties/Advanced Properties/Environment Variables (button)
Add: P4PORT value: SERVER:(Port)
Once you do this then you can connect to Perforce, but not before. Also, you will need to create an XML file as documented here.
