Error restoring : The file failed to initialize correctly.

We have a giant DB (1TB, 138GB compressed). I've used virtual restore before to quickly pull some data from our backups, but when I tried doing so this past week it failed. Here is the error log from SQL Server:

I've tried on the backups from the previous two weeks and always get the same error. Backups are multi-file (20).

Any idea what is happening here? I've used this tool before with no issues.

oh, and it's Virtual Restore version 2.2

another note, restoring the backups as normal works just fine. so the backup files themselves are good.

Can you please send an email to support@red-gate.com (quoting call reference #18321) or update the call directly via the link and attach a copy of the HyperBac service.log file located in the %system root%\Red Gate\Hyperbac\logs folder?

It appears from the information you have provided, SQL Virtual Restore has failed to open the 20th backup file - FULL_(local)_DBNAME_20140411_000001_20.sqb

What version of SQL Backup created the sqb file or files you are using to mount the virtual database?
