SQL downgrade

Can SQL Compare and Data Compare be used to efficiently downgrade a SQL database from 2008 R2 to 2008?

I'm searching to help a client who upgraded and didn't fully test. A few of the downgrade articles mentioned using Redgate tools. I've browsed the documentation and it seems like it might, but I would like confirmation.

Thank you for any comments or advice.

Thank you for your forum post.

Yes, you can use SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare to compare a SQL 2008 R2 to a SQL 2008 database and then deploy from the 2008 R2 database to the 2008 database.

You will need to be careful with regards to features new in the 2008 R2 database. If the source SQL 2008 R2 database is making use of any new features that are not available in SQL 2008, the deployment process will most likely fail.

I hope this answers your question.

    Many Thanks
