Blocked Process Alert Email Size

Hello,

I had a load of email alerts over the weekend for Deadlocks and Blocked processes. The deadlock alerts were 12kb in size but the Blocked process alerts were a whopping 9mb each! I got a telling off from my email admin about disk space on our email server. From what I can see it looks like the Blocked Process emails include a massive sql fragment. Is there anyway of truncating the sql fragment included in the email to a maximum length?

Thanks for your post.

Unfortunately there's no way to configure the information included in the alerts. You can configure the threshold for alerts being sent, which would reduce the total size of the emails in theory, but I could imagine that not being a great solution for you.

One thing you might be able to do is disable the alert completely and come up with a custom metric (http://sqlmonitormetrics.red-gate.com/) configured to alert you and include less information.
