My company has a key licensed for 5 computers. We recently download version 4 of sql-compare but when we click the activate now button we have a problem. The key textbox automatically fills in with our key but when we choose to activate over the internet we get the error:

"There was a problem activating the software:

The serial number has been registered on too many different machines"

We only have our machines here licensed. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this situation? Thanks.

    Hello Brian,

There is a limited number of activations available per serial number, and each time the software is activated on new hardware again, one more slot is taken up. Sine the software licence is per-user, you're entitled to install the software on many machines, however.

Please send the serial number to sales@red-gate.com and explain the situation, snt they'll be happy to sort the activation out for you.
  • I also try to register the first time and get the same message. I think there is something wrong with the registration process.
