Time difference between call activity and Total time

I see the following message when I have the Call tree visible.

"The selected time region contains database call activity totaling > 282.5 seconds. To view database activity during this time period, switch to the Database Calls view."

When I go to the Database calls view and sum the Total time to first result(ms) column I get 32 seconds.

How is the database call activity is calculated and how does it tie out with the Database calls view?

    The calculation of the total time is not accurate (and not meant to be) since it is an interpolation of the total time divided by the percentage of time selected. Its only meant as a rough guide- the individual data per SQL call is accurate, however.
