Help, Hyperbac wont start!

Our Hyperbac service won't start. The error message is:

The HyperBac Control Service service terminated with the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
We installed the most recent version lately but noticed the restores took twice as long afterwards. I uninstalled it, installed a later version and now the error. Yes, I've rebooted a number of times

So far my tests are showing that the older version is twice as fast, so I still need to resolve this so that I can roll the servers back. I will open a separate thread for the speed issue.
